Hi, I am Jabal. I’m a self-taught guitarist and founder of this website. I’ve been learning and playing guitar since 2015.

My interest in picking up the guitar was on advise of a kind soul trying to help me with stress during a difficult phase of my life.

I’m glad I did and I hope to encourage you to learn the most beautiful instrument in the world.

My Interest In Music

My interest in music is courtesy my father. He not only loved listening to all kinds of music, he’d also buy audio equipment with his modest earning. He encouraged me to listen to all kinds of music and over the years I’ve enjoyed listening to pop, rock, blues, metal, bollywood and so much more.

However, though I was fascinated with Guitar, I couldn’t get the opportunity to learn Guitar. Probably because we lived in a small town that neither had a music store nor had any guitar teacher. And as I grew older, life had other plans.

The Start of Guitar

Back in 2014-15, I was grappling with some serious challenges on professional and personal front. Life threw several challenges all at once and it was hard. A well wisher advised I should take up a hobby to get my mind off the daily stress.

So I turned to guitar and after a couple of false starts, it’s been a wonderful journey.

Quit and Start Again

The false starts lasted a few months and it felt like I was moving in circles without making much progress. With work and home responsibilities it was hard to keep up.

The guitar I bought from a store wasn’t making things easier either. It was hard to play and the fingers really hurt. I learnt much later that my guitar wasn’t setup properly. I had absolutely no idea about these things.

After a tribulations lasting a couple of months, I quit.

Then a friend suggested I check out online guitar lessons where I could learn at my own pace and don’t have to keep attendance or fear falling behind.

I was already guilt ridden quitting guitar. So I decided to try the online approach.

I researched and educated myself about buying guitars and accessories and also found really good online guitar lessons and a wonderful online community for support.

And it’s been a long and wonderful journey with no interruptions.

My Guitars – Fender CD-60S and Yamaha Pacifica

Why This Website?

Sometime in 2022, I came across an interesting statistic.

Fender, the legendary guitar brand did an online survey and one of their findings was that over 90% of beginner guitar students quit guitar in their first year.

I can’t deny that. I was one of them.

Guitar is indeed a difficult instrument to learn.

I’ve met many people just like me who started but quit for reasons very similar to mine – lack of time, bad instrument, bad advise and more.

Through this website, I hope to remove these roadblocks for people like you and encourage you to keep going.

How We Review

We are not a big media outlet with offices in marquee cities. We don’t have big budgets nor are brands lining up to have us review their products.

We are a small outfit operating from a 100 sq.ft. study with limited budget but with a crystal clear intent of putting our reader’s interest above everything else.

We divide our review process in 4 steps:

  1. Buy Product (budget permitting)
  2. Use & Test
  3. Research
  4. Review

Depending on the product, we consider different criteria that include (but not limited to) product specs, features, build quality, sound, ease of use, brand reputation, price, warranties etc.

Each review is done with the objective of giving an independent and unbiased opinion on the product that serves our reader’s interest.
